Biomechanical Comfort Insoles: Powered by AI and a Patented 3D-Printing Structure

Problem

Customised orthotic insoles can be expensive due to the significant amount of manual labor involved in both assessment and craftsmanship. While each insole is individually tailored, the process lacks a systematic and scientifically repeatable approach. As a result, “if you go to three different providers, you will most likely receive three different proposals.”

Assessments often still rely on static scans with the interpretation of the data being entirely subjective. Even when dynamic movement assessments are conducted using advanced biomedical devices, many professionals do not know how or have the time to translate the data into scientific repeatable proposals. In terms of production, while 3D printing technologies have been around for some time, commonly used TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) filament is too static and inferior to traditional methods.

On a marco–level, while the orthopaedic technician (or Danish: “bandagist”) is a dying occupation, the demand for customised orthotic insoles is ever increasing due to a lack of activity of the younger generation and an increasing aging population.

Solution

Sequence (SEQ) addresses this challenge through its proprietary liquid 3D-printing structure* and an AI-powered automated process. The system integrates dynamic data from the entire body, enabling a scientifically repeatable method that can be executed by medical or non-medical professionals in under 10 minutes. The liquid additive manufacturing technology is unique, defensible, and provides a competitive advantage in the market.

Business Model

Sequence partners with medical and non–medical professionals that already utilise high–end biomedical assessment devices to offer customised biomechnical comfort insoles to the German market.
